“Our product worked, but it looked a decade old and customers noticed. Juicy Designs redesigned the entire interface, tightened the typography and colour, and the difference is night and day. It finally looks like the premium brand we are. The Figma files were so clean our developers built it without a single query.”

Visual. Systematic. Buildable.
Choose your UI starting point
Visual interface design, a reusable design system, and developer-ready handoff. Three UI deliverables that make a product look premium and stay consistent as it grows.
Visual Interface Design
The craft layer: high-fidelity mockups where typography, colour, spacing, iconography, and imagery come together into a polished, on-brand interface. We design every screen and every state so your product looks considered rather than assembled. Ideal for teams whose product works but looks dated or generic. UI design from R25,000/project.
Explore UI designDesign System & Components
A documented component library with colour and typography tokens, spacing rules, and usage guidelines, built in Figma. Your product stays visually consistent and your developers build new screens faster because the building blocks already exist. The backbone of any product with an ongoing roadmap.
Explore design systemsDeveloper Handoff
Interfaces are only as good as what ships. We hand off organised Figma files with named components, design tokens, spacing and colour values, redlines, and specifications your developers build from directly, so the live product matches the mockups exactly. You own the files, so your team can keep building in-house.
Explore handoffEverything we cover in UI design
Six UI services. One visual craft
From a single high-fidelity mockup to a full design system, designed, documented, and ready for developers.
High-Fidelity Interface Design
Pixel-perfect mockups of every screen, designed in Figma with real content, real imagery, and considered detail. We translate your brand into an interface that looks premium and reads clearly, then design every state, hover, focus, error, empty, and loading, so nothing is left to chance in development. WCAG AA contrast throughout. UI design from R25,000/project.
Learn moreTypography & Colour Systems
The foundations that make an interface feel coherent: a type scale with clear hierarchy, a colour system with accessible contrast ratios, and consistent spacing rules. We translate your brand identity into interface-ready tokens so every screen feels like part of the same product, not a collection of one-off designs. Included in every UI engagement.
Learn moreDesign Systems & Component Libraries
A documented library of reusable components, design tokens, and usage guidelines in Figma. New screens stay on-brand, developers build faster, and your product stays consistent as it scales. We build the system so multiple people can create screens without the interface drifting. Essential for apps and platforms with ongoing roadmaps.
Learn moreResponsive & Mobile UI
Interfaces that work on every screen. We design mobile-first layout grids, touch-friendly targets, and adaptive typography, then scale up to tablet and desktop so the product feels right at every breakpoint. For native apps we follow iOS and Android platform conventions so the interface feels at home on the device.
Learn moreDark Mode & Micro-Interactions
The polish that makes a product feel premium: a considered dark mode with proper contrast, plus the small, purposeful micro-interactions, hovers, transitions, and feedback states, that make an interface feel responsive and alive. We design these deliberately so they guide the user rather than distract, and we document them for developers.
Learn moreDeveloper Handoff & Figma Files
Design that ships. We hand off organised Figma files with named components, design tokens, redlines, spacing and colour values, and specifications your developers build from directly. Designing and handing off cleanly avoids the costly translation errors that happen when mockups are thrown over the wall. You own the files and keep working in-house if you choose.

Craft-led, transparent, buildable
Here is what a UI design engagement with Juicy Designs looks like from first brief to developer handoff.
-
Brand & Foundations
We translate your brand into interface foundations: a type scale, colour system with accessible contrast, spacing grid, and iconography direction. The system every screen is built on.
Week 1 -
Key Screens
We design the most important screens first in high fidelity, agree the visual direction with you, and lock the look and feel before scaling it across the rest of the product.
Week 1-2 -
Design Every State
Every screen, breakpoint, and state, hover, focus, error, empty, loading, dark mode, designed to pixel-perfect standard so nothing is guessed in development.
Week 2-4 -
Systemise
We turn the interface into a documented component library with design tokens and usage guidelines, so the product stays consistent and developers build faster.
Week 4-5 -
Handoff
Developer-ready Figma files with named components, redlines, and specs. We stay available through the build so the live product matches the mockups exactly.
What makes us different
Why South African businesses choose Juicy Designs for UI design
Interfaces that are pixel-perfect, systemised, and built to hand off cleanly. No template skins, no decoration for its own sake.
Pixel-perfect, every state
We design the full interface, not just the happy path. Every hover, focus, error, empty, and loading state, at every breakpoint and in dark mode, is designed rather than left to a developer to invent. That is what separates a mockup that looks good in a portfolio from an interface that holds together in real use, and it is why our handoffs build cleanly.
Founder-led, brand-to-interface
Founders Cobus and Wynand lead design direction personally. We translate your brand identity into a working interface, not a generic template dressed in your colours, so the product looks like your business and no one else. Juicy Designs is a Google Partner, founded in Pretoria in 2015, rated 4.9 stars across 214 reviews.
Systemised and accessible
Every interface we design meets WCAG AA standards for colour contrast, focus states, and readable typography, and it ships as a documented design system so your team stays consistent as the product grows. Accessible, systemised UI reaches more users, protects you legally, and simply makes a better product. We document it so developers build exactly what you signed off.
Frequently asked questions
Got questions?
Straight answers about UI design. No jargon, no runaround.
What is UI design?
UI (user interface) design is the visual and interactive layer of a digital product: how it looks and how you touch, tap, and click it. It covers layout, typography, colour, iconography, spacing, imagery, buttons, forms, states, and micro-interactions.
Good UI design turns an approved structure into a polished, on-brand, accessible interface that feels premium and is a pleasure to use. It is the craft that sits on top of the underlying structure and research, which is the UX design layer.
What is the difference between UI and UX design?
UI (user interface) design is how a product looks and the interface you interact with: layout, typography, colour, iconography, components, and micro-interactions. UX (user experience) design is how a product works: the research, user flows, information architecture, and structure that make it intuitive.
They are separate disciplines that depend on each other. You can book the visual UI layer on its own here, book UX design for the research and structure layer, or book both together as our combined UI and UX design service.
What is a design system and do I need one?
A design system is a documented library of reusable UI components, colour and typography tokens, spacing rules, iconography, and usage guidelines. It keeps a product visually consistent and lets developers build new screens faster because the building blocks already exist.
If you are designing a single landing page you probably do not need one. If you are building an app or platform with an ongoing roadmap and multiple people creating screens, a design system pays for itself quickly by preventing inconsistency and rework.
Do you design in Figma and hand off to developers?
Yes. We design and build interfaces in Figma, the industry-standard tool, so you can view the work, leave comments, and inspect any screen from a browser with nothing to install.
At handoff your developers get organised Figma files with named components, design tokens, spacing and colour values, redlines, and specifications they can build from directly. You own the files, so your team can keep working in-house if you choose. We can also take the design through to a live website if you would rather we build it.
How much does UI design cost in South Africa?
UI design at Juicy Designs starts from R25,000 per project as a market reference, and scales with the number of screens, states, and whether you need a full design system and component library. Larger product interfaces with a documented design system scale up from there.
These bands are a reference only. Tell us what you are building and we send a written, fixed-price proposal within four working hours, with no long-term contract.
Do you design UI for mobile apps?
Yes. We design interfaces for iOS and Android apps as well as responsive web and web apps. That means native patterns and platform conventions, touch-friendly targets, mobile-first layout grids, adaptive typography, dark mode, and every interactive state designed rather than left to chance.
We hand off developer-ready Figma files so your engineers, or ours, can build the screens exactly as approved. For the research and flows behind an app, pair this with our UX design service.
Client results
Real UI results from South African clients
Businesses whose products went from dated and generic to genuinely premium.
“We were rebuilding the same components over and over and every screen looked slightly different. Juicy Designs created a proper design system in Figma with tokens and a component library, and our development time dropped by roughly half. Everything is consistent now and new screens take days, not weeks. The documentation alone was worth it.”
“Our app functioned fine but the interface felt cheap and the reviews said so. Juicy Designs reworked the entire visual layer, added a proper dark mode, and designed every state so nothing looked half-finished. It genuinely looks premium now. Our store rating climbed to 4.8 and users started commenting on how good the app looks.”
