Logo Design

Custom Logo Design Built For Your Brand

A logo is the one mark your business carries everywhere, so it has to be original and built to last. Juicy Designs is a logo design company in South Africa that draws custom marks from scratch, refines them with you, and hands over every file format with full ownership. No templates. No recycled clip art. 64+ brands created since 2015.

Juicy Designs is a custom logo design company in South Africa, drawing original marks for businesses nationally since 2015. A custom logo design is an original mark created from scratch for one business, rather than a template or AI-generated graphic reused across many. Our logo process runs over five steps: discovery, concepts, refinement, finalisation, and a final file pack with usage guidelines. You receive your logo as scalable vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) plus high-resolution raster files (PNG, JPG), supplied in full-colour, single-colour, and reversed white versions so it works on any background. We design wordmarks, lettermarks, icon and pictorial marks, combination marks, and emblems, and recommend the right type for your name and sector. Full ownership and usage rights transfer to you on completion, so you can trademark the mark and use it without licensing fees or lock-in. Logo cost depends on scope, so we prepare a written proposal for your brief rather than a fixed price.

Types of logo

Five logo types. One right fit

There is no single best logo type. The right one depends on your name, your sector, and where the mark has to work. We recommend a direction during discovery and explain the reasoning before any drawing begins.

Wordmark

A wordmark sets your full business name in custom or carefully chosen lettering, with no separate symbol. It suits distinctive names that benefit from being read in full, the way Google or Coca-Cola do. We draw or tune the letterforms so the name itself becomes recognisable, and keep it legible from a billboard down to a favicon.

Best for memorable, readable names.

Lettermark

A lettermark, or monogram, reduces a longer name to its initials, the way IBM or HP do. It is ideal when the full name is long or made of several words. We design the initials as a deliberate mark rather than typed letters, so it reads as an identity and stays clean at small sizes on apps, stamps, and stationery.

Best for long or multi-word names.

Icon or pictorial mark

An icon or pictorial mark is a single symbol that stands for your business, the way the Apple or Twitter marks do. It works hardest once a brand is established and recognised on its own. We design a symbol with a clear, ownable shape that scales well, and pair it with your name until the icon can carry the brand by itself.

Best for a strong, single symbol.

Combination mark

A combination mark pairs a symbol with your name in one lockup, the way many modern brands do. It is the most flexible choice, because the symbol and name can be used together or apart as your brand grows. We design both elements to work as a unit and as standalone pieces, and supply the variations you need for each use.

Best for flexibility and most businesses.

Emblem

An emblem sets the name inside a contained shape such as a badge, crest, or seal, the way many universities and heritage brands do. It carries a sense of tradition and trust. We balance detail against legibility so the emblem still reads when it is small, and supply a simplified version for tight spaces and embroidery.

Best for heritage, trust, and craft brands.

Our logo process

From brief to file pack in five steps

A good logo is the result of a clear process, not a lucky first draft. Here is how a custom logo project with Juicy Designs runs from the first conversation to the final files.

  1. 1. Discovery

We learn your business, audience, competitors, and what the logo has to do. We agree on the logo type, the feeling it should carry, and where it will be used, before any drawing starts.

    Step 1
  2. 2. Concepts

We sketch and develop a small set of distinct, custom directions, each drawn from scratch. You see real options with a clear rationale, not forty throwaway variations of the same idea.

    Step 2
  3. 3. Refinement

You choose a direction and we refine it together over focused rounds, tuning the shapes, weight, spacing, and colour. We test the mark at large and small sizes until it holds up everywhere.

    Step 3
  4. 4. Finalisation

We lock the final mark and build the full set of versions: primary, secondary, stacked, and single-colour, in full colour, black, and reversed white, so the logo is ready for any background.

    Step 4
  5. 5. File pack & guidelines

You receive every file format, vector and raster, with a short usage guide and full ownership transferred. Your logo is yours to trademark and use, with no licensing fees or lock-in.

    Step 5

Custom vs cheap or AI

Why a custom logo beats a cheap or AI logo

A logo is the one asset you keep for years and stamp on everything. A template or AI generator can produce something quickly, but the cracks show fast. Here is the difference.

64+ Brands designed
10+ Years designing logos
5-step Logo process
100% Original, owned by you

Original, not recycled

Template marketplaces and AI generators reuse the same shapes and fonts across thousands of businesses. A custom mark is drawn from scratch for you, so it is genuinely yours and distinct enough to trademark, rather than something a competitor may already be using.

Truly yours

Built to work everywhere

Cheap logos often arrive as a single low-resolution image that breaks when scaled. We build your logo as clean vector artwork and test it at every size, then supply the versions and formats you need for print, screen, signage, and embroidery.

Real vector files

A person, and full ownership

You work with our founder-led Pretoria team, not a black-box generator. We explain each decision, refine the mark with you, and transfer full ownership and usage rights on completion. No licensing fees. No watermarked downloads. No lock-in.

Founder-led

Format Type What it is for

Frequently asked questions

Logo design questions?

Straight answers about custom logo design in South Africa. No jargon, no runaround.

What is included in a custom logo design?

A custom logo design from Juicy Designs includes a discovery session, original concepts drawn by hand, structured refinement, and a final file pack. You receive the primary logo plus secondary, stacked, and single-colour versions, every print and digital file format, and a short usage guide covering clear space, minimum size, and colour values. Full ownership and usage rights are transferred to you on completion.

What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

A logo is the single mark that identifies your business. A brand identity is the full system around it, including colour palette, typography, iconography, imagery, and guidelines. Logo design focuses on getting the mark right. If you need the complete system, see our branding and identity service, which builds on the logo.

How long does custom logo design take?

Most custom logo projects run over two to three weeks across five steps: discovery, concepts, refinement, finalisation, and the file pack with guidelines. Timelines depend on how quickly feedback comes back at each round. We confirm a clear schedule before we begin so you always know what happens next.

What logo file formats will I receive?

You receive scalable vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) as the master artwork, plus high-resolution raster files (PNG with transparency, and JPG) for everyday use. Files are supplied in full colour, single colour, and reversed white versions so your logo works on any background, in print and on screen. See the full file pack above.

Do I own the rights to my logo?

Yes. Once your logo project is settled, Juicy Designs transfers full ownership and usage rights of the final logo and source files to your business. The mark is custom and original, drawn for you, so you can trademark it and use it without licensing fees or lock-in. The logo belongs to your business, not to us.

What types of logos do you design?

We design wordmarks, lettermarks, icon or pictorial marks, combination marks, and emblems. The right type depends on your name length, sector, and where the logo needs to work. We recommend a direction during discovery and explain the reasoning before any drawing begins.

Why choose a custom logo over a cheap or AI-generated logo?

Cheap template logos and AI generators reuse the same shapes for many businesses, so the result is rarely original and is difficult to trademark. A custom logo is drawn from scratch for your brand, built as clean vector artwork, tested at every size, and delivered with full ownership. It is an asset you control rather than a stock graphic others may already use.

How much does a custom logo design cost?

Logo cost depends on scope, including the number of concepts, the logo type, and whether you need extra variations or a wider identity. Rather than quote a number that may not fit your project, we prepare a tailored proposal. Send us your brief through our quote request and a member of our team responds with a written proposal within four working hours.
